^ii. this verse encompasses any encounter not set within a fandom verse . by default , i typically fall back on the span of time where she has run the bakery for quite a while but has yet to focus on other endeavors . however , any point within this verse’s timeline is game upon request or with plotting .

^i. in which hope is the proud owner of byrdene bakeshop & cafe , a local gem in the heart of brooklyn . having scraped by for so long to save for its opening , she & her business partner / best friend / roommate - christina - could not be more excited to actualize their dreams at last . the spot quickly becomes a favorite amongst locals - known for their unique recipes , incredible caffeinated beverages , & welcoming environment .

^ii. afraid of abilities that had proven volatile , she suppressed them as much as she was able to throughout her college years . by the time she & her best friend , christina , move to their tiny shared apartment in new york city , they had become so weak that she might as well not have them at all - & truly , she couldn't have been happier about it . all she wanted to do was cling to what normalcy she had left , save money , complete pastry school & open her very own bakery . fate , however , had different plans . trouble finds hope in the form of robert carp , who she quickly becomes romantically involved with .

^iv. this being the wake up call she’d been needing , hope hurries to make good on her promise & end things with him . unbeknownst to hope , christina had taken it upon herself to confront robert on her own . it was not until she heard yelling & a crash come from his apartment where she stumbled upon a violent confrontation between the two . her cries of protest falling upon deaf ears , she charged forward to defend her friend who was struck viciously by the man . for the first time in years , she could feel the distinct warmth of power at her fingertips - & she did not waste it . in a flash of light her ex was flung like a rag doll through the air & into a wall. after tending to christina she never once looked back .

^vi. life returned to normality briefly , hope graduated & the girls were able to eventually open their business . it's around this time hope began to lean into her abilities , really see what they can do . if she could use them to protect the people she cared most about , maybe they weren't the curse she'd once believed them to be .

^viii. still pretty new to the hero business , every day she gets a little stronger & wiser . soon enough she's even made a name for herself in the papers as the masked vigilante stellar jay . despite her doubts & naïveté , hope is much more than what meets the eye .

^i. in which hope was abducted & experimented upon in an underground testing facility with little to no ethics . she emerged two & a half years later with powers she could hardly control & not much else . no family left & nothing to her name , she was taken in by famed journalist kit armington until she was ready to reenter the world .

^iii. [ TW : abuse mention ] he was fairly wealthy due to his father’s businesses & lured her in with promises of assisting the funding of her bakery & the promise of love she'd become so desperate for . of course , it was all just too good to be true & the man wasted no time becoming verbally & physically abusive . hope , still weighed down by two jobs in addition to classes , was given an ultimatum by a concerned christina : break up with him or run the bakery herself.

^v. to hope’s immense relief christina was knocked out cold & hardly registered anything that happened after getting pummeled - so hope chose to remain vague about what transpired , not quite ready to explain her past . robert also kept his mouth shut , both frightened at how hope might react if he squealed & thouroughly embarrassed that he had been demolished by the 5’6” baker .

^vii. at first her heroism was just happenstance . she’d see a bad guy doing bad things & take care of it . . . but eventually she began to seek them out . after having everything ripped away from her only to be stepped on again & again , it felt so good to finally have an outlet that didn’t involve internalizing her emotions . heroes seemed to be popping up left & right , so why not her ?

^i. hope received her powers in the same way as her main marvel verse, but in this alternate universe she was recruited by s.h.i.e.l.d - not entirely by choice - shortly after her escape from the facility. she never represses her abilities in this verse , but due to their explosive volatility she is forced to wear power-dampening gloves between missions.

^ii. she is much more guarded & a lot less stable in this verse, never having formulated her own identity via opening the bakery & making her own decisions.

^i. in which hope runs her bakery in london , where nothing ever seems to change - yet she finds herself always yearning for some incomprehensible measure of more . . . discovering what it is exactly that she wants always seems to slip from her mind . the baker knows one thing though , she's never felt quite at home , even in one of her own making .

^ii. in a box within a high closet shelf , tucked away beneath old letters & beside knickknacks sits an old pocket watch - cracked across its face & hands which are frozen in time . hope has hardly looked at it , in fact - it means nothing to her really . . . but she can't seem to let it go . so it sits there , waiting for someone who knows what to do with it .

^i. this verse explores an alternate timeline where hope is never disguised as a human when she escapes gallifrey during the time war. generally, she travels around & tries her best to stay out of trouble - which is much easier said than done. eventually, she sets up a bit of a home base on earth in the form of a bakery where her TARDIS is disguised as one of the walk-in fridges.

^ii. eventually , she will have to move back to new york to continue monitoring her other businesses . . . but perhaps there is something or someone that could make her stay . . .

^i. in which hope moves to london to open up a new storefront for her bakery ! she is often up to her neck in the planning , designing , & hiring processes - but she is trying to enjoy her time in the city as much as she can . she is also confronted with family on her father's side who are quite traditional & not at all familiar to the baker .

^i. hope & her sister faith were a popular duo of supes, but hope quickly became disillusioned with the concept as vought pushed for more & more unethical behavior from the two . faith, however, thrived in this environment while hope tried to take a step back from it all - resulting in a strict talking to & being subsequent blacklisted.

^ii. nowadays she does what she can to actually look out for the little guy in the form of vigilante justice. hope keeps others at an arms length, afraid to drag anyone she grows to care about down with her if she ever gets caught.

^ii. after one too many miracles in her presence it's not long before there are opportunistic eyes on the baxter family . it's a hot summer night when they come for her . in the struggle, hope’s mother is fatally wounded - but still manages to tell her daughter to run.

^iii. since then , she has spent her life moving from place to place frequently to evade those who would want to use her gifts. she keeps a low profile , & tries to avoid her secret being revealed . eventually , she is approached by hawkins lab with an offer: remain close & let them run their tests on her in exchange for protection .

^i. ever since hope was a little girl she had an odd tenderness far beyond her age . around six years old a bird flew into the window of her childhood home , breaking its neck on impact . hope rushed to the poor thing , cradling it in her hands . warm tears pooled & overflowed , one drop falling onto its feathered breast . as if by magic , the bird twitched back to life healed of all wounds .

^IV. hope is tired of running & decides to take the deal - moving into a small house on the edge of town . she doesn't have much , but she makes a decent living as a piano teacher , tutor , & part time waitress . all the while, she wonders if there are others out there who share her strange abilities .
